Soil biota contribute to the delivery of multiple soil functions. Here we consider the role of soil biota contributing to the functions of: Nutrient Cycling, Carbon and Climate Regulation, Water Regulation and Purification and Disease and Pest Management.
The BIOSIS web platform for the first time visualises the relationships between soil biota and four soil functions, through defining the relationship between a wide range of soil biota and the soil processes they support. Soil processes may be important to one or several soil functions and the BIOSIS website provides the reader with an overview of how soil biota, processes and soil functions are connected.
